Biography
Ken Bodner was born in New York in 1948 and holds a BA in Psychology and a MS in Public Health-Biostatistics. He has also studied in various scientific fields from chemistry to neurophysiology. After a 38 year career in medical research and public health statistics, he launched a second career as a fine arts photographer, his longtime passion. His arts education includes studies in zone system photography and black and white darkroom techniques under S. Preston Jones at the Studio School of the Midland Center for the Arts in Michigan, and courses in digital, darkroom, color and landscape photography at the Lake Tahoe Community College in California. He currently resides in South Lake Tahoe. Ken brings his affinity for investigation to capturing the essence of the natural and man-made landscape in his prints. He is focused on the interplay of harmonious and discordant elements of the environment, and forms that emerge from their surrounds with unnatural definition or that exude manifest power. His works are visually precise statements of his vision of nature in the spirit of the Group f/64 artists and their successors. Ken works in digital and film media, black and white and color, from 35 mm to 4x5 format. He displayed selected prints at the 2017, 2018, and 2019 Lake Tahoe Community College Student Art Exhibits where they were awarded second place, third place, and honorable mention honors by jurors. |
